June 25 - Back home I really hate the espn Sunday night baseball game - maybe I’m just too old to stay up until midnight watching the Yankees (who inevitably take 4 hours to play a baseball game), or it could be the lousy commentators. But while I’m in Australia, I love it! Afternoon games start at 3AM here…night games 9AM (still earlier than I usually arrive at the lab), and the Sunday night game at 10AM (still actually earlier than I got in today…but closer!). Perfect timing and a (not so) glorious Yankees victory! I also made a great trade for Matt Harrison in my fantasy league, who promptly got taken out of his start with an injury not 8 hours later…You all care, I know.

Well, it looks like we’re finally going to start running the experiment for real tomorrow! Pilot results came out really really nice today, I just need to recode the keypresses (since not everyone has played piano for 20 years I guess maybe I shouldn’t require everyone’s left hand to cover both the space bar and ‘A’ key…). The speed of this is really pretty amazing…I have so many projects that have been bogged down for seemingly (and really) years, and yet this one might actually be done, start to finish, in just the month I’m here. Assuming the data isn’t total crap…Really shows what you can accomplish when there is one thing on your to do list each day instead of 17. Also this experiment was technically started quite a while ago, but since I basically recoded everything from scratch and we’ve made significant changes (including adding twice as many conditions) I’m counting it.

Blah blah blah science. I made the mistake of going to the grocery store hungry. Even though you could fit about 20 of these IGAs into Pittsford Wegmans, I still managed to walk out of the store with nothing but snack food and cookies (which was why I went there in the first place, but I still always feel like a failure when I go grocery shopping and don’t actually end up with anything that can be turned into a real meal). This batch of cookies is good, but not nearly as good as the last batch I got. Coles had a much better selection, but is a half hour walk away…You know, I never really buy cookies back home, probably cause I can make ice cream (which I can’t store here otherwise I’d probably have some of that too!)

OK this is just utter nonsense tonight. Sorry guys, I didn’t do anything exciting :)  I just finished practicing my talk…56 minutes, I rule. If I can manage to not repeat myself 6000 times like I did just now it should be perfect timing. And if not, oh well, the woman last week took almost an hour and a half!
